The Preston County Board of Education meeting on July 24, 2026, approved a group of fiscal-year purchase orders totaling $2,680,282 by a 5–0 vote. The orders included utilities and fuel—Kingwood Waterworks ($150,255), Mountaineer Gas ($128,000), Manpower electricity service ($1,249,276), and Stock Enterprises fuel ($180,000)—as well as Gordon Food Service summer-program supplies ($100,000), State Board of Risk Insurance coverage ($618,234), Curriculum Associates’ i-Ready platform ($137,517), and Prodigy district internet service ($117,000). Several were blanket amounts based on estimated usage, with new purchase orders required if spending exceeds the approved amounts. The board also approved agreements with North Central West Virginia Community Action for collaborative preschool services, Valley Health Care System for student behavioral-health services, and Marshall University for pre-service teacher clinical experiences; no dollar amounts were stated for these agreements.

The board approved a special meeting for August 3 to consider personnel items and hear a presentation from Kanawha County Schools about its virtual education program, including a related agreement. In discussing the transportation director position, the superintendent explained the posting and selection process and agreed to bring future director-level job posting changes to the board before posting, giving members an opportunity to review requirements. The board also discussed travel policy revisions, with a revised proposal expected for the August 10 meeting; no policy change was adopted at this meeting.
