The City of Sacramento Active Transportation Commission met on June 12, 2025. Staff reported that City Council had passed the city budget, making funding available July 1 for the smaller Quick Build program; hiring for those positions was underway, with work expected to begin in fall or winter. Staff also said the Marysville Boulevard Vision Zero corridor project was in design as a larger Quick Build effort, with a tentative commission update in August. The commission reviewed—but did not vote on—draft citywide bikeway-separation and shared-use-path entry recommendations, including concrete curbs, precast barriers, and access treatments. Commissioners commented on visibility, permeability, maintenance, emissions, and costs. The consent calendar was approved, with several abstentions; no contract award or dollar amount was stated.
Staff presented an update on the Two Rivers Trail Phase 3 project, including planned trail and crossing improvements and a subsequent environmental review covering Phase 3 and future Phase 4 elements. The city is seeking construction funding for Phase 3 through available grants and refining planning-level costs; construction is tentatively targeted for summer 2027, contingent on securing funds. Phase 4 would address major railroad and highway crossings and remains unfunded. In other business, staff said a consulting team had been hired to review shared-scooter regulatory practices, with a potential regulatory update process expected to begin in fall; no consultant name or contract value was provided.
