The City of Sacramento Active Transportation Commission met on August 21, 2025. Staff announced that an RFP would be issued soon for community-based planning for the Reconnecting Old North Sacramento effort, funded through the federal Reconnecting Communities program. The commission also reviewed the Streets for People Active Transportation Plan, which recommends more than $1.5 billion in walking facilities and just under $893 million in bicycle facilities. Commissioners approved a motion recommending that City Council adopt the plan; adoption was expected to be considered in October. No implementation funding was approved, and staff said projects would be prioritized later through the Transportation Priorities Plan process, given limited and unpredictable funding.

The commission reviewed proposed alternatives for the Howe Avenue safety and mobility plan and the Norwood Mobility Project; both reviews were for comment, with no vote or contract action. Discussion covered separated bikeways, crossings, speed management, trees and shade, right-of-way constraints, and project costs. During its annual report discussion, the commission considered funding requests and other recommendations, noting a projected city budget deficit; members did not form an ad hoc committee, and discussion of the report continued. No contract awards or vendor selections were identified.
