The City of Wausau Infrastructure and Facilities Committee met on October 8, 2026. The committee approved 2027 construction assessment rates, retaining roadway assessments at $55 per accessible foot, driveway approaches at 100% of actual cost, and new sidewalks at 50%; the sewer lateral replacement assessment was increased from $500 to $1,000. It also approved an amendment to the winter maintenance policy directing snow on center-median streets toward the median, with counterflow plowing where needed. The committee recommended forwarding that policy action to the Common Council. A consent item authorizing downtown snow and ice removal was approved. No vendor selection, bid award, or contract number was identified in the transcript.

The committee reviewed the 2027–2028 capital infrastructure plan, including discussion of the $1.98 million solar array proposal for the drinking water treatment facility, which had not advanced through Finance after anticipated EPA funding was unavailable, and a $150,000 downtown traffic-flow design item still subject to budget discussion. Members also discussed $800,000 in ELRI funding for a 17th Avenue project, debt and potential project deferrals, and the status of current street, sidewalk, utility, and riverfront parking construction. Other approvals included alley and street-extension vacations subject to city utility easements, a preliminary development plat, and a River District–proposed painted curb-extension project, with the River District responsible for bollard replacement through 2032.
