The Strongsville City Schools Board of Education work session on October 8, 2026, included a procurement-related action on transportation for students attending Saint Mary Catholic School. The board unanimously approved rescinding its May 28 declaration that transportation was impractical. The district explained that, after mediation failed and some families rejected payment in lieu of transportation, state procedures required it to provide a bus and discontinue the payments. The discussion cited the comparatively high cost of transporting the small number of students, but no vendor, contract award, or contract amount was identified.
The board also recognized a $500 stipend from Operation Keepsake for health and physical education resources. Most of the meeting focused on student recognition, the district’s five-star state report card, attendance and literacy performance, and discussion of draft board priorities for 2026–27; the priorities were not adopted at this meeting. Public comment supported Issue 9, but no related funding action was taken.
