Nash County, North Carolina held a public community meeting on October 9, 2026, to explain proposed revisions to its Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), the county’s first major reevaluation of the regulations since 1999. The county said consultant Withers & Ravenel helped develop the proposals with a steering committee. Topics included subdivision layout and access, residential setbacks and lot widths, accessory dwelling units, solar-farm decommissioning, vegetative buffers, utility extensions, conservation subdivisions, floodplain standards, and review procedures. The county also noted that data-center rules will be addressed separately under a moratorium currently in place through June 2027 or until regulations are adopted.

This was an informational meeting; no formal procurement actions or votes were taken. An earlier informal consensus among commissioners and planning board members favored not adopting a proposed 24-foot pavement-width requirement for subdivisions without fire hydrants, but the issue remains for formal consideration. The planning board was scheduled to review the proposals on October 19, with the Board of Commissioners expected to consider them as early as November 2. The proposals could affect future development requirements and costs, but no contract awards, spending approvals, or specific procurement amounts were identified.
