The Central Dauphin School District Building & Grounds and Finance Committee meetings were held October 8, 2026. Building & Grounds reviewed summer-project punch lists and storm repairs, and discussed a North Side renovation with preliminary costs of about $23.5–$23.9 million, potentially reaching $25 million. The project would address HVAC and other building systems and must start in December to meet the schedule; firm contract pricing was expected for a future Board consideration. The district plans to use an OMNIA cooperative purchasing contract for Trane equipment. The committee also reviewed career and technical center concepts: estimates included about $9.5 million for a single-story CD High option, $10.9 million for a two-story shell, and $12 million for a fully built-out two-story option; equipment costs were not included. No final project award was made. Members discussed a focused follow-up presentation from Cowan & Kelly on architectural services, and snow-removal procurement: bids were accepted for two of three service tiers, while a third tier received no responses and staff planned further solicitation. Washer-and-dryer equipment pricing was still being assembled.

Finance reviewed health-plan performance and cost-management initiatives, including a reported $118,000 projected savings from locking in a lower natural-gas rate. The committee also considered replacing the district’s student information system with Focus after stakeholder evaluations. Focus was described as the lowest-cost option, with quoted costs varying by package; the presentation cited a $20,000 near-term payment and roughly $275,000 in costs during the transition, when the old and new systems would overlap. A motion passed to advance the proposal for a first reading at the next Board meeting, with additional budget detail requested. The administration emphasized keeping department spending flat amid labor negotiations and rising special-education costs; no final contract approval for the software was reported.
