The School Town of Munster Board of School Trustees regular meeting was held October 7, 2026. The board approved the 2027 budget-related resolution, the 2027–2031 bus replacement plan, and the 2027–2029 capital projects plan. It also approved a 2027 transfer of up to about $5 million from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund. The board approved a proprietary brand-name specification justification for a project currently being bid: Paddock will be specified to refurbish the school pool’s existing bulkheads, and Duraflex diving boards will be specified to match the existing platforms. The financial report noted four buses had been delivered, and $41,500 had been paid to DLA Architects for initial work on the planned multipurpose building, with reimbursement from bond proceeds anticipated later. The district also reported roughly $500,000 in storm-repair expenses and continued coordination on the building project and FEMA recovery application.

The board recognized Munster Education Foundation grants totaling $37,456.81 for school programs and materials; these were foundation awards rather than board procurement approvals. It approved athletic sponsorship donations from Arie’s Dog House, Gateway Triangle Corporation, and Jets Pizza, and approved a teachers’ association agreement amendment that relocates early-literacy endorsement language to comply with state requirements, with no compensation changes. The board also reviewed school bus routes and safety procedures. No vendor contract award or bid selection was reported.
