October 7, 2026 Tree Board Meeting

The City of Lake Forest Park Tree Board met on October 7, 2026. The main procurement- and budget-related discussion concerned recommendations for the city’s tree permit fee schedule, which the City Council is considering with the budget and is tentatively expected to adopt on November 12. Members supported exploring separate fees for major and minor permits and waived or reduced fees for invasive species; they also discussed requiring an application for dead-tree removals, potentially without a fee. Staff will estimate permit workloads and provide information to help the board develop specific fee recommendations for its November 5 meeting. No fee changes were approved at this meeting. In discussing Sound Transit’s project, members cited an estimated overall cost of $250 million to $580 million; no related procurement action was taken.

The board also discussed the upcoming tree giveaway and outreach materials. A representative of Republic Services had expressed interest in potentially sponsoring a revised printing of the popular tree-walk guide; members planned to follow up, but no sponsorship or printing commitment was approved.
