The October 7, 2026 joint meeting of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners’ Public Services, Government Oversight, Health and Human Services, and Records and Public Safety committees approved several funding actions. By 11–0 votes, the committees approved a $45,000 FY2026 budget amendment for planning and economic development grant funds, a $100,000 state Community Growth Academy grant with no local match to support planning related to the Ford Romeo plant closure, and a $291,447 budget amendment for the Community Action Weatherization Supplemental program. The committees also approved an MDOT-funded project contract for mast-arm signals and turn-lane construction at 26 Mile Road and Hayes Road; the project was described as costing about $1.7 million, with state safety funds capped at $750,000 and the remaining local share divided among the county and participating communities. A Shelby Township indigent defense services agreement extension was recommended to the full board and passed 11–0.

The Veterans Affairs grant discussion covered funding restrictions and planned advertising expenditures; a media-buyer RFP was expected to close October 15, with a contract selection anticipated for the November board meeting. Commissioners discussed a prior $160,000 allocation that remained in the fund balance and requested campaign performance data. Separately, the Martha T. Berry facility report noted $4.1 million for elevators and HVAC, but said additional HVAC funding would be needed; no funding action was recorded. Other business included receiving and filing retirement and retiree health-care valuation reports and a solid-waste plan amendment, as well as proclamations and Human Services Board appointments. No procurement action was identified for those items.
