Hudsonville Public Schools Board of Education work session, September 21, 2026. The board discussed whether to opt into available 31a funding; no decision was requested at this meeting, and staff said they expect to return with more information in October for possible board action in November. Potential eligible expenses include about $1 million for video-security management software and related camera and transportation systems, plus roughly $500,000 in other eligible expenses. The district is also awaiting a CAPS school-violence-prevention grant that could cover some of the same needs. The board asked for clarification of revised funding conditions before deciding. Separately, bids are open for replacement of the pool scoreboard’s aging control board and backend equipment. Staff gave a preliminary estimate of $70,000–$90,000, said bids had not yet been reviewed, and noted that bond or sinking-fund dollars may be eligible; the six-month lead time makes spring-break installation a consideration. No procurement award or spending motion was made. A student Europe trip request is expected on a future consent agenda, and the district is exploring access to reduced-cost bulk supplies for student hygiene kits.

The remainder of the session primarily covered annual assessment results and instructional improvement efforts, including curriculum alignment, student achievement, and AP participation. The agenda was approved, and staff also reported that draft audit materials were under review. No other procurement decisions were identified.
