The Milwaukee Board of School Directors’ Committee on Student Achievement met on October 8, 2026. The committee voted 4–0 to sunset Resolution 22-23R-018 and dissolve the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Task Force after administration reported that its assigned work had been completed. Administration said it would continue reviewing the task force’s proposed bilingual education program, with January identified as a reasonable target for a fuller discussion; no implementation decision or funding action was taken. The committee also received informational reports on library, art, music and physical education; 2026 state assessment results; the first year of the Team GEAR UP grant; and career-readiness programs. No procurement awards or contract approvals were made. The GEAR UP report described a seven-year federal grant providing about $3.23 million annually, with matching funds bringing the total investment to approximately $46 million, serving students across 28 schools.

The LAMP report named instructional partners and vendors, including the Wisconsin Conservatory, T Bay, Kids from Wisconsin, The New State, and Arts at Large; administration also cited EverFi and Children’s Wisconsin resources used in health education. These were reported as existing programs, not new procurement decisions. In career readiness, GPS Education Partners said its MPS agreement did not cover the program’s full costs, prompting a reduction from 30 to 22 student places and leaving a waitlist of 30; the organization requested an increased allocation in the next three-year agreement, but the committee took no action. Discussion also highlighted career pathways and staffing needs, including six library vacancies, and the district’s ongoing use of referendum-supported resources. The reports on assessments and student programs were informational, with no spending motions or votes.
