The Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board’s regular open-session meeting on October 8, 2026, included an update on the district’s voter-approved $127 million general obligation bond. Staff reported that the district sold $35 million in Series A bonds in March 2025 and plans to bring a proposed $30 million Series B sale to the board for action on October 22, with a goal of completing the sale by year-end. Staff noted that bond sales are paced according to the property-tax revenue available for repayment; approximately $92 million remains to be sold, and rising project costs may affect project scope and timing, including work at Meyers and Sierra House. DA Davidson is the underwriter and DWK is bond counsel. No bond sale was approved at this meeting.
The board also heard that wildfire fuel-reduction work at district campuses treated 67 acres at the high school using U.S. Forest Service funding, with 13 more acres planned; South Tahoe Middle School work is underway with California Tahoe Conservancy grant funding, while some future work remains unfunded. The board approved the 2026–27 certification that students have sufficient standards-aligned instructional materials, following a motion and vote. It also approved the consent agenda. Other discussion included LCAP planning and budget pressures, school safety updates, and labor negotiations; no other contract awards or purchasing approvals were identified.
