The City of Bangor Historic Preservation Commission met on October 8, 2026. Commissioners approved the September 24 meeting minutes and adopted findings and a decision for 225 Cedar Street. After determining that a commissioner’s landlord relationship with Blackstone Restoration did not constitute a conflict of interest, the commission reviewed Blackstone Restoration’s application on behalf of the homeowners for a certificate of appropriateness at 28 West Broadway. The proposed work includes replacing deteriorating metal gutters, valleys, and downspouts with copper; repairing damaged carpentry; installing snow guards; replacing slate on the roof hips and ridge; and renewing a flat roof. The commission unanimously granted the certificate of appropriateness after finding the proposal met the applicable historic preservation standards.

No government procurement, contract award, bid approval, or budget allocation was identified; the application concerned privately proposed restoration work. Commissioners also noted upcoming vacancies on the commission and encouraged interested applicants to apply.
