The City of Watertown Planning Commission met on October 8, 2026, to consider meeting minutes and several plats. The commission approved a replat of the Maple Street Southeast property, reducing five existing nonconforming lots in the C-3 highway commercial district to three; the recorded vote included one nay and one abstention. Commissioners discussed whether the replat could precede future zoning or use changes, while staff clarified that rezoning was not before them. The commission also considered plats in the Dakota Commons development, including a plat memorializing right-of-way dedications and a two-lot, 11th Edition Phase One plat extending Lewis and Clark Trail. The latter, Resolution 2026-45, was approved. The transcript does not clearly capture the vote outcome for the other Dakota Commons plat.
The developer said the development has an existing HOA for single-family and R-2 lots, while whether some traditional lots south of Park View Trail would be outside an HOA remained to be determined. Staff also noted that, in coordination with Watertown Municipal Utilities and the developer, a rear-yard utility easement on six lots was revised from 10 to 20 feet. No procurement, contract awards, or spending decisions were identified.
