🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚨 Public Safety Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

Tempe City Council work study session, October 8, 2026: The Community Health and Human Services overview reported an $83 million operating budget and a capital improvement program budget of just over $27 million. Housing staff said the Tempe Coalition for Affordable Housing issued its first RFP for nonprofit co-developer partners, creating a second track for affordable housing development alongside city-led projects using Hometown for All funds. The city has committed 99 project-based vouchers to the Dorsey Station project and reported adding 73 affordable homes to its portfolio. The presentation also cited $1.1 million in city general-fund support for human-services agency review and nearly $123,000 invested in food-access programs; regional providers must report Tempe-specific recipients.

The police department’s update on the Public Safety Advisory Task Force noted that the city had signed an Axon contract to support the transition from Taser 7 to Taser 10 devices; no contract value was stated. The department also reported ending its Flock contract and described existing safety technology deployments, including permanent speed and red-light cameras at 14 intersections and four rotating mobile speed cameras. No procurement award or spending vote was taken during the session; the RFP, contract, budgets, and deployments were reported as existing or ongoing activity.
