The City of Worcester Standing Committee on Public Works met on October 7, 2026. The committee unanimously approved the September 14 meeting minutes and voted to add several sidewalk and street projects to their respective repair or resurfacing lists, subject to available funding. These included Bdon Street sidewalk repairs; approximately 1,400 feet of sidewalk work on both sides of Marlin Road, estimated at about $192,000; Neptune Road sidewalk work, estimated at about $180,000; and Neptune Road resurfacing. DPW estimated that combining Neptune Road resurfacing and sidewalk work could cost about $350,000. The committee also voted to add Pine View Avenue to the resurfacing list after DPW confirmed the section was public and eligible for rehabilitation. No construction contracts or project funding were awarded; future selection depends on budget availability and the city’s project-selection process.
The committee voted to refer a crosswalk curb-cut request to Traffic and Parking and approved leave to withdraw for a Puritan Avenue resurfacing petition after DPW reported the road was in good condition. It held a no-littering-signage item while requesting that a duplicate petition be sent to the School Committee. On raised survey monuments creating sidewalk trip hazards, the committee issued a citywide chairman’s order asking DPW to propose a budget and process for addressing them, including interim measures; the agenda item was held. The committee also heard support for an honorary street name recognizing Ruth Rodriguez Fay, but the transcript does not capture a vote on that request.
