The October 7, 2026, Queen Anne’s County Board of Education meeting included several spending and contracting approvals. The board approved five-year student transportation contracts with Bay Area Transportation LLC, Northern County Exchange LLC, LNS Bus Service Inc., and Queen Anne’s County Bus Lines LLC; the contracts retain existing rate structures and revise the per-vehicle allotment formula. It also approved purchase of four 2027 Ford E-350 maintenance vans from Preston Ford Automotive Group for $282,780 from FY27 capital funds, below the $312,000 budgeted, and authorized a local-funds purchase of a used bus to replace bus 11713, with a stated fiscal impact of about $17,000. Other approvals included $592,956.85 for the Midshore Special Education Consortium, $139,846.56 for nonpublic tuition, and $1,450 for an FFA overnight leadership trip. The board also approved a $405,953 FY27 within-category budget transfer and the FY28 capital improvement program for submission to the state.

The capital plan prioritizes replacement of Centreville Middle School and Centreville Elementary School HVAC and roof projects. Administrators estimated the middle school replacement at about $82 million, with roughly $33 million in anticipated state participation and $48 million in county costs under the current funding scenario; they described uncertainty around state funding and discussed pursuing grants, including for the proposed net-zero design. The board approved the capital plan and discussed seeking county commissioners’ support, but did not approve a construction award. Policy 604 was approved subject to final formatting edits. The proposed virtual instruction plan and FY28 budget calendar were information items, not approvals.
