The City of San Gabriel City Council’s regular meeting on October 6, 2026, included two procurement-related actions. On the consent calendar, council approved the towing-services item as part of a unanimous 5–0 vote. Staff described an RFP process that assessed proposals and site visits, with Navarro’s Tow and Henry’s Tow scoring highest based on criteria including secure evidence-vehicle storage, response distance, driver qualifications, and accountability. A council member asked for clarification on the evaluation process before supporting approval. A towing-company representative had addressed council during public comment, but no separate action on that comment was recorded.

Council also unanimously approved the citywide street-name sign replacement purchase, following discussion of design, color, warranty, installation, and scheduling. Staff reported that Pacific Products submitted the lowest of two responsive proposals at $228,560; the purchase is supported by funding carried over from the FY 2025–26 budget into the adopted FY 2026–27 budget. The project covers approximately 1,664 signs, which city staff expect to install within about six months, by the end of June 2027. Council retained the existing sign design and brown color. Residents also raised concerns about trash-rate increases, property conditions, and a requested design-review appeal-fee waiver, but no spending or procurement action on those matters was recorded.
