Evergreen Public Schools Facilities Review Committee community information presentation, October 5, 2026: District leaders said no school-closure decisions have been made and the committee is still gathering information and public feedback. The review considers enrollment forecasts, building capacity and condition, geography, transportation, demographics, equity, and feeder patterns. Scenarios include evaluating Pacific Middle School for consolidation and elementary-school options involving Sunset or Silverstar in the Heritage feeder, Fircrest or Hearthwood in the Evergreen feeder, and Riverview in the Mountain View feeder. The Union feeder is not being considered for consolidation; its focus is balancing enrollment. No vote, contract award, purchase, or other procurement action was identified.

The CFO reported enrollment has fallen from 25,272 in 2017–18 to about 20,572 this year, with further decline forecast, and said the district’s projected 2025–26 unrestricted fund balance is 1.5%, below the board’s 5% target (about $22.5 million). The district estimates structural reductions of about $12 million in 2027–28 and a further $10 million in 2028–29. Estimated recurring savings from consolidation are $1.25–$1.75 million annually for an elementary school and $1.75–$2.25 million for a middle school, depending on the scenario. These figures were presented as planning estimates, not approved savings or spending. The committee will continue its work and community engagement, with another information session planned for November 2; any recommendations would go to the superintendent, and the board would decide whether to proceed with a formal process.
