The Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee met October 7, 2026. The committee advanced several infrastructure and sustainability items: a fiscal year 2027 appropriation for the Bloomfield Township Triparty Road Improvement Program (Project No. 58741); a one-year pilot fee schedule for county EV chargers of $0.30 per kWh and a $5-per-hour fee for vehicles left connected after charging; and grant acceptances for approximately 5,000 LED bulbs and recycling materials ($48,971, with no local match) and Level 3 EV chargers and installation ($565,000 total, including a $425,000 state grant and $140,000 in DTE rebates). The EV fee schedule and Level 3 charger grant were referred to Finance, while the LED grant was recommended to the full board. The committee also unanimously recommended easements for Waterford Township’s existing sanitary sewer line at Waterford Oaks Park and for DTE service lines serving downtown Pontiac redevelopment parking structures. A DNR parcel adjacent to White Lake Oaks was proposed for transfer to the county for a $300 application fee, subject to a Phase I environmental assessment; that recommendation passed unanimously. A further DTE easement for the Judson building is expected to return in November.

Other actions included unanimous approval of a boilerplate participant agreement for the 2026 My Career Quest event, and an amended SMART operating-agreement item for 2026 transit funding; the discussion noted added service and reported ridership increases of 30–35% on routes with increased frequency. The committee also advanced amendments to Oakland County’s PACE program that would allow financing terms of up to 30 years, subject to the useful life of improvements; the program uses private capital rather than county tax dollars. The Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce presented a proposed workforce-support pilot for mid- and late-career professionals and said it may seek special-project funding, but no funding action was taken at this meeting. No vendor contract award was identified.
