The Pickens County Board of Elections and Registration met on October 6, 2026. The board approved the agenda and the September 1 minutes, with minor corrections. No contracts, purchases, budget allocations, or other procurement actions were identified. Members discussed polling-place arrangements: Talking Rock is expected to move to a county building, while a replacement location for Tate remains unresolved and will be revisited after the election. The board noted that other polling-place arrangements are currently based on verbal agreements; no spending decision was reported.
Staff reviewed preparations for the November 3 general/special election, including training about 80 poll workers, equipment testing, absentee-ballot mailings (349 regular and 16 overseas ballots reported), early voting, ballot-processing panels, certification meetings, and an audit covering at least seven races. Staff also explained the state Election Board requirement to keep a handwritten, numbered voter list as a backup record, and described plans for training, reconciliation, and record retention. The board discussed third-party election mailers and voter questions, and announced that student artwork will appear on seven county election stickers. Members were asked to submit availability for early voting and names for election panels; the board planned a November 2 meeting to address any election-day issues.
