The Oregon City Commission’s October 7, 2026 work session reviewed proposed building fee schedule changes and a new Community Development administrative fee. Staff recommended a 3.1% CPI adjustment to fixed fees, while removing or simplifying several fees, including fees for boilers, barbecues, certain furnace categories, quick-start service, and pre-submittal meetings. The changes would be subject to Building Codes Division notice and a public hearing; staff planned to submit the materials by October 16 for a December 2 hearing, with adoption anticipated before the January effective date.

Staff also proposed a separate 0.4% administrative fee on building permit valuations to help cover permit-center operations and related department-wide administrative work. They estimated the fee could generate about $369,000 annually based on recent valuations; the city currently provides about $1.2 million per biennium in general-fund support for Community Development. Commissioners expressed support for moving both proposals forward, but no formal vote was taken during the work session. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or capital project approvals were identified.
