The City of Norwalk Land Use and Building Management Committee met on October 7, 2026. The committee unanimously approved a single-source purchase order to Tucker Mechanical, Inc. for a building management system controls upgrade at police headquarters, not to exceed approximately $149,890, and authorized related change orders up to $14,980.90. Staff said Tucker is an authorized KMC controls representative and one of two vendors the city uses for building controls. A public commenter questioned the recurring use of sole-source vendors and asked about Tucker’s clean-energy experience; staff explained the vendor arrangement and the city’s prior process for selecting controls providers. The committee also unanimously approved $72,500 in CDBG funding for Norwalk Senior Center improvements, together with a contingency allowance not to exceed $18,737, to replace patio doors and provide an accessible ramp.
The committee unanimously approved the plans, specifications, and cost estimate for the Norwalk High School FF&E package under state project 103-0263N, with a stated budget of about $6.65 million. This vote advances state review and pricing; it does not authorize purchases or spending. Staff anticipated bringing purchase orders back for approval around December, with deliveries planned for spring and summer 2027. The committee also received school construction updates: the high school project remains on schedule for fall 2027 occupancy, and six HVAC/indoor-air-quality projects total roughly $36 million, with state reimbursement expected for eligible costs. A proposed lease item had been withdrawn by the transit authority. No other procurement action was identified in the construction updates.
