The Putnam County Legislature’s Physical Services budget meeting on October 7, 2026, reviewed the proposed 2027 budgets for public works, facilities, parks, planning, and transportation. The discussion covered ongoing paving and road maintenance, fuel and subcontractor costs, and a range of proposed capital projects, including facility and generator upgrades, security improvements, parking-garage steel repairs, dam and culvert work, and pavement rehabilitation. The capital plan also included two EI-PreK buses estimated at about $115,000 each and federally supported transportation and intersection projects. These were budget and planning discussions; no new construction contract awards were identified. Legislators approved a motion to reallocate $200,000 between capital project lines in connection with the proposed 34 Gleneida Avenue study, keeping legislative review involved in the project’s next steps.
Transportation officials said the county’s contract with MV was due for renewal April 1, 2027, and discussed possible hourly peak service on the Mayapac route and microtransit in Philipstown and Putnam Valley. The proposed transportation budget included about $3.5 million in contracted transportation costs; officials estimated Putnam On-Demand would cost roughly $200,000, and legislators requested clearer budget reporting for that service. The county’s new Putnam Golf Course operating arrangement was also discussed: the operator is expected to pay the county about $21,000 per month, while taking on most operating responsibilities. Other procurement-related items included closeout services for county energy-efficiency work by Ameresco and a planned bid process for the DSS secure entryway project, for which additional funding of about $1.1 million was discussed. No vendor selection or contract award was made at this meeting.
