Description
The project aims to investigate surgical strategies to delay the onset of Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD) in patients with single ventricle disease. Using a novel ovine Fontan survival model, the study will evaluate the incidence of somatic overgrowth and compliance mismatch in different surgical groups, characterize hemodynamic differences via 4D cardiac magnetic resonance catheterization, and analyze cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying FALD through serial liver biopsies and multiomic analysis.
