Description
The HEAR Study aims to improve public health by addressing gaps in knowledge about recovery capital (the social, physical, human, and cultural resources that support recovery) for people who have resolved problems with alcohol. The study will examine how recovery capital relates to recovery outcomes and how income influences this relationship. Using longitudinal methods and the Multidimensional Inventory of Recovery Capital (MIRC), the study will recruit U.S. adults who resolved an alcohol problem 3-11 months ago, with a focus on lower-income populations. Participants will complete surveys at baseline, 12, 18, and 24 months. The study will test hypotheses about changes in recovery capital over time, its association with recovery, and the development of benchmark scores to predict recovery success.
