Description
This project aims to determine the effect gestational age at delivery has on lactation outcomes using biologic measures including mother's own milk volume, secretory activation, and biomarkers in pump-dependent mothers of preterm and critically ill infants. The study targets the biology and physiology of insufficient mother's own milk among NICU mothers to identify evidence-based lactation care and gain new knowledge on biomarkers for managing mothers at risk for delayed or impaired lactation, thus improving infant health outcomes and health equity.
