Description
The Community Engagement Technical Assistance Center (CETAC) supports the efforts of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to promote health, improve health outcomes, and strengthen partnerships through community-engaged research. CETAC provides technical assistance, research infrastructure, and scientific and administrative leadership to support the NIH Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) and its research teams in conducting rigorous scientific research grounded in community-engagement best practices. CETAC works closely with NIH CEAL leadership and program staff to develop and strengthen CEAL as a platform that expands and sustains community-engaged research through effective governance and processes, cross-program collaboration, and dissemination of promising practices. As a coordinating center, CETAC provides the infrastructure to coordinate, facilitate, and leverage scientific and community expertise and resources across CEAL programs, helping to promote and enhance community-developed solutions to improve health outcomes for all. CETAC’s core activities include communications, data coordination and information technology, program evaluation, scientific coordination and technical assistance, subaward administration and management, and support for collaborative groups. The goal of CEAL is to promote health, improve health outcomes, and strengthen partnerships through community-engaged research. CEAL achieves this by partnering with communities to: Advance research on community-driven solutions addressing differences in health outcomes. Build trust in science and research. Ensure meaningful involvement from study design through dissemination.
