Research project funded by the National Institute on Aging to study early Alzheimer's disease pathology in affective brain networks using a rhesus monkey model, aiming to develop preventive interventions.

Description

This project aims to investigate how amyloid beta oligomers (AβOs) generate structural, cellular, and synaptic pathology in the neural hubs of the affective brain, to understand the mechanisms by which Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) impacts affective life. The research involves detailed neuroimaging and histological analyses of the interoceptive-allostatic network in a nonhuman primate model, specifically rhesus monkeys, to develop interventions that may prevent the progression of AD.
