The award funds research to develop imaging methods to study and manage ARDS by assessing pulmonary circulation and perfusion, aiming to improve treatment and patient outcomes.

Description

This project aims to develop advanced imaging techniques to better understand and treat ARDS by focusing on pulmonary perfusion and ventilation management. The project will use dynamic contrast enhanced and dual energy CT, as well as electrical impedance tomography, in animal and human studies to characterize lung perfusion and direct treatment. The goal is to protect the pulmonary capillaries and manipulate pulmonary perfusion to decrease capillary stress failure and attenuate ARDS progression.
