NIH funded project to develop selective inhibitors for human concentrative nucleoside transporters to aid biological studies and reduce drug toxicity, with a total award amount of $176,196 from July 2025 to June 2027.

Description

The project aims to develop highly potent and subtype-selective inhibitors for human concentrative nucleoside transporters (hCNT1, hCNT2, hCNT3) using structure- and ligand-based design, synthesis, cell-based bioassays, and ADMET studies. It will provide chemical tool compounds for studying the physiology and pharmacology of these transporters and address mitochondrial toxicity associated with HIV/AIDS drugs.
