Description

This project aims to study hybridization between schistosome species infecting humans (S. haematobium) and livestock (S. bovis). Using genome sequencing of field-collected schistosomes, the research will determine the frequency and consequences of hybridization in natural populations. The study will include experimental crosses to assess how hybridization impacts parasite traits and will examine the role of rodent hosts in hybridization.
