Award to University of Texas at Austin to develop an engineered enzyme for depleting extracellular adenosine and 5'methylthioadenosine as a novel cancer therapeutic, evaluating immunomodulatory effects and efficacy in cancer models.

Description

This project aims to engineer a high-affinity human methylthioadenosine phosphorylase (hMTAP) enzyme capable of degrading both adenosine and 5’methylthioadenosine. The goal is to evaluate its therapeutic potential in cancer treatment, focusing on its immunomodulatory effects and efficacy in in vitro and in vivo models, including the CT26 colon carcinoma murine model.
