Description
The project involves longitudinal research on Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome (CDS) symptoms, characterized by excessive daydreaming, slowed thinking, and mental confusion, and their relation to adolescent psychopathology. The study aims to examine CDS as a predictor of psychopathology and suicidal ideation, test interpersonal functioning as a mechanism, explore moderating factors such as trauma exposure, biological sex, and socioeconomic status, and establish CDS in relation to behavioral units like mind-wandering, processing speed, and attribution bias. The research involves assessing a large, diverse community sample (N=341; ages 10-12 years) at multiple timepoints over several years.
