Research to develop tight binding inhibitors targeting mycobacterial lipoamide dehydrogenase to improve treatment of tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial diseases, focusing on enzyme binding and in vivo efficacy.

Description

This project aims to develop inhibitors targeting mycobacterial lipoamide dehydrogenase (Lpd) to combat tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, focusing on structure-activity relationships and in vivo efficacy. The study explores the chemical biology of Mtb Lpd to develop tight binding inhibitors with improved efficacy, targeting multiple enzyme complexes in Mtb and extending to NTM pathogens such as Mycobacterium avium and M. abscessus.
