Research grant studying how alcohol affects Alzheimer's disease progression through gut microbiome changes, testing tributyrin as a treatment.

Description

This project evaluates the interactive effects of heavy alcohol drinking and Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis at the level of gut dysbiosis and the development of neuropathological changes and memory deficit. It uses a mouse model to examine the effects of chronic alcohol on Alzheimer's disease development and tests the efficacy of tributyrin as a potential intervention.
