Description

The project aims to understand the brain’s lymphatic system in a preclinical rodent model of Alzheimer's Disease and develop two therapies, manual lymphatic drainage and lymphaticovenous anastomosis, for AD treatment. These therapies are approved for lymphatic disease and are being repurposed for AD. The project focuses on the hypothesis that impairment in the brain’s lymphatic system contributes to AD pathology, aiming to characterize lymphatic drainage in a rat model and evaluate the efficacy of these therapies to improve lymphatic flow, reduce amyloid beta accumulation, and slow cognitive decline.
