Project 3 focuses on developing digital biomarkers using wearable sensors and AI to track disease progression in hereditary spastic paraplegias, enhancing clinical trial outcomes and readiness.

Description

Clinical Research Project 3 aims to create and validate digital biomarkers that accurately reflect disease progression in hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSP), enabling more sensitive and specific outcome measures for clinical trials. The project uses wearable activity monitors and inertial sensors as digital surrogates, employing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to integrate data with clinical information. This deep phenotyping will provide specificity, new big data types, and potential connections between HSP subforms and genetic variations, supporting genetic research. The project will improve clinical trial readiness for multiple forms of HSPs, add digital phenotypes for better stratification, and simplify future clinical trial data collection.
