Description
This project aims to elucidate how disrupted iron homeostasis relates to circulating monocyte function in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It focuses on the role of kidney macrophages originating from monocytes in kidney fibrosis progression and iron metabolism. The study will evaluate the intracellular iron status of monocyte subsets in CKD patients and explore how systemic and cellular iron levels influence monocyte phenotype and tissue invasion, with the goal of identifying therapeutic targets to slow CKD progression.
