A research project investigating neurocognitive outcomes and recovery trajectories in pediatric sepsis survivors over one year, focusing on acute brain dysfunction as a modifiable risk factor.
Description
This study aims to determine the prevalence of new neurocognitive morbidities up to 12 months after hospital discharge and to assess if acute brain dysfunction during sepsis is a modifiable risk factor. The study involves a prospective longitudinal design with 180 school-aged sepsis survivors, evaluating neurocognitive status at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-discharge using caregiver-reported measures and performance-based neuropsychological evaluations.
