A research project funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse to implement and evaluate an in-hospital opioid treatment program to improve linkage to opioid treatment programs for hospitalized patients with opioid use disorder.
Description
This project aims to expand in-hospital opioid treatment program (OTP) intakes to support hospital-to-OTP linkage among hospitalized adults with opioid use disorder (OUD). Using a staircase cluster randomized design with a hybrid type 2 approach, the study will implement core activities supported by implementation facilitation (IF) to improve clinical activity uptake by hospital-based addiction clinicians. The study will measure the effectiveness of IF on hospital-to-OTP linkage rates, implementation fidelity, costs, and patient characteristics.
