Research project funded by the National Cancer Institute to study the impact of severe storms on breast cancer care and outcomes, aiming to develop strategies to mitigate care disruptions and improve health responses.
Description
This project aims to recognize treatment disruption and adverse health outcomes experienced by patients with breast cancer following severe storms and to identify and prioritize strategies to respond to health needs. It employs a mixed methods framework to assess the impact of severe storms on breast care, acute care services, and mortality; describe disruptions and community concerns; and identify targeted interventions to mitigate care disruptions and respond to post-storm health needs.
