This NIH grant supports the development of a Raman spectroscopy platform for noninvasive monitoring of bone quality to improve osteoporosis screening and fracture risk assessment.

Description

Development of a noninvasive optical vibrational spectroscopy tool to assess bone quality and fracture risk, addressing challenges in soft tissue interference, correlation with clinical BMD scores, and safety in humans. The project includes spectral algorithm adaptation, correlation studies, and pilot human studies to demonstrate proof-of-concept for clinical use.
