Description
This research aims to evaluate the natural history and mechanisms of long-term effects of acute organophosphate intoxication, identify biomarkers for long-term outcomes, and explore new therapeutic targets. The project hypothesizes that sleep disruptions following acute organophosphate intoxication play a critical role in the development of seizures and cognitive dysfunction. It proposes to assess changes in sleep architecture post-exposure, identify sleep as a biomarker for seizure and cognitive outcomes, and test early intervention with FDA-approved dual orexin receptor antagonists to improve sleep and prevent severe outcomes.
