Description
The project aims to define the role of the developmentally expressed mRNA binding protein IMP1 in the intestine during necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). IMP1 influences intestinal barrier maintenance, immune cell activation, intestinal stem cells, autophagy, and extracellular vesicles (EVs). The study will utilize genetic mouse models with conditional Imp1 deletion or overexpression, perform RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing to identify binding targets, and analyze EV cargo and macrophage activation to understand mechanisms governing barrier function and NEC etiology.
