Research project studying the combined effects of alcohol and nicotine e-cigarette exposure during early development on physiological and behavioral outcomes using a mouse model.
Description
This project will use a mouse model to investigate whether co-exposure to alcohol and nicotine via e-cigarettes during early development alters drug metabolism, shifts intestinal microbiome populations, changes gene expression, and/or modulates later-life behaviors. The study aims to examine blood levels of drugs, enzyme activity, microbiota composition, gene expression, and behavioral outcomes. The project will be conducted by undergraduate research students in the Psychology, Biology, and Chemistry departments at West Chester University.
