Description
The project investigates the hypothesis that excess activation of the mineralocorticoid receptor in hypertension leads to impaired oxygen delivery to the heart and impaired cardiac energy generation. A clinical study using a mineralocorticoid receptor blocker (eplerenone) will be performed. The study involves cardiac PET/CT, echocardiography, and 24-hour BP monitoring. The project aims to improve coronary microvascular function and cardiac efficiency, independent of blood pressure changes.
