Description
A research project grant to add a nationally representative cohort to the existing Agincourt sample of the Health and Aging in Africa: Longitudinal Study in South Africa (HAALSI) Program, enabling the first nationally representative study of cognitive function and dementia in South Africa. The project includes conducting a national Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol (HCAP) study, measuring prevalence of cognitive impairment and dementia, and examining socio-economic factors related to cognition. The study aims to recruit 4,500 participants aged 40 and older and produce data for public use to inform policymaking and interventions for healthy aging.
