Conducting a Public Auction of Used & Surplus Equipment

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (AHTD) is seeking proposals for a one-year contract to conduct public auctions of used and surplus road equipment. The primary auction is scheduled near the end of October at the AHTD Equipment & Procurement Division Complex in Little Rock, Arkansas, with secondary auctions possible at the auctioneer's facilities. The auctioneer is responsible for all expenses, including advertising, postage, concessions, and payment collection, and will receive the gross total of high bids minus their commission. The equipment to be auctioned includes approximately 304 items such as pursuit sedans, pickups, dump trucks, loaders, excavators, and various other construction and road maintenance vehicles and machinery. The contract requires the auctioneer to provide an irrevocable letter of credit of $500,000 and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000. The auctioneer must also sign a lease agreement for the primary auction location and send notices to bidders supplied by AHTD and their mailing list.
